History
The Turkish Van originates from Lake Van in Turkey where they gained a love of water and swimming. They made their way to Britain in the 1950s after a couple fell in love with them and brought them home to breed. They were loved in Britain too and eventually spread to the US and Australia.

This breed is robust and healthy but an annual check-up is a good idea to ensure they are in the very best shape.
