Hypoallergenic Cat Breeds
Low-shedding breeds that produce less of the Fel d 1 allergen — a better choice for allergy sufferers across Australia.

Abyssinian
One of the oldest and most athletic cat breeds, the Abyssinian is a sleek, medium-sized cat with a distinctive ticked coat and large, alert ears. Incredibly curious and playful, they form strong bonds with their families.

Australian Mist
Australia's only native cat breed, the Australian Mist was developed in Sydney by Dr Truda Straede in the 1970s. A cross of Burmese, Abyssinian and Domestic Shorthair, this gentle, home-loving cat is ideal for families and apartment dwellers alike.

Bengal
The Bengal is a breathtaking hybrid breed created by crossing the Asian Leopard Cat with domestic cats. Athletic, muscular and wildly beautiful, Bengals bring the look of the jungle into your home. They are active, curious and demand engagement — not a lap cat, but an extraordinary companion.

Burmese
Often described as "bricks wrapped in silk", the Burmese is a deceptively heavy, muscular cat with an incredibly affectionate personality. They form deep bonds with their owners, following them from room to room, and do not like being left alone for long periods.

Egyptian Mau
The only naturally spotted domestic cat breed, the Egyptian Mau's distinctive spots are a result of ancestry rather than selective breeding. This sturdy, well-muscled cat is of medium size with dark expressive eyes and an elegant, noble stance. Worshipped in ancient Egypt, the Mau is one of the fastest domestic cat breeds.

Siamese
The Siamese is one of the world's oldest and most recognisable cat breeds — a sleek, elegant blue-eyed beauty with an unmistakable voice. Extroverted, demanding and endlessly entertaining, Siamese cats consider themselves full family members and will not accept being ignored.

Sphynx
Without a doubt the first thing you notice about the Sphynx is what it lacks — fur. But this wrinkled, warm-to-the-touch cat more than makes up for it with an enormous personality. Sphynx cats are the extroverts of the cat world — attention-seeking, acrobatic and deeply affectionate.

Tonkinese
The Tonkinese is the perfect blend of the Siamese and Burmese — more outgoing than the Burmese, more relaxed than the Siamese. They have aquamarine eyes in the mink pattern, a social nature that makes them ideal for busy households, and a playfulness that lasts well into adulthood.

Bombay
The Bombay is the "mini panther" of the cat world — sleek, jet-black and muscular with striking copper or gold eyes. Bred to resemble a miniature black leopard, they are affectionate, people-oriented cats who love attention. They are sometimes described as a "dog in a cat's body" due to their tendency to follow their owners around and play fetch.

Burmilla
The Burmilla is an elegant cat with a shimmering, silver-tipped coat and sparkling green eyes. A relatively new breed, they combine the best traits of the Burmese (playful, affectionate) and the Chinchilla Persian (beautiful coat, calm nature). They are sociable, friendly and adaptable — great for families and apartment living.

Cornish Rex
The Cornish Rex is an acrobatic, playful cat with a distinctive wavy coat and large, bat-like ears. Their curly coat is incredibly soft to touch — like crushed velvet. They are known for their "dog-like" personality, often playing fetch and learning to walk on a leash. Cornish Rex are warm-bodied cats that love to snuggle.

Devon Rex
The Devon Rex is a pixie-like cat with huge ears, wavy fur and enormous personality. Often called the "poodle cat" for their curly coats, Devon Rex are supremely people-oriented — they will follow their owners everywhere and insist on being involved in everything. They are warm-bodied, sociable and utterly entertaining.

Japanese Bobtail
The Japanese Bobtail is one of the oldest cat breeds in the world, known for its distinctive short, bunny-like tail caused by a naturally occurring gene mutation. They are active, playful and intelligent cats that are very people-oriented. The Japanese Bobtail is considered a symbol of good luck in Japan — the famous "Maneki-neko" (beckoning cat) figurine is based on this breed.

Korat
The Korat is one of the oldest and rarest cat breeds in the world, originating in Thailand where they are considered symbols of good luck. Their distinctive silver-blue coat shimmers in the light, and their large, luminous green eyes are captivating. Korats are quiet, gentle and bond deeply with their families — they do not like change or loud environments.

LaPerm
The LaPerm is a unique curly-coated cat with a warm, affectionate personality. Their coat ranges from loose waves to tight ringlets and feels incredibly soft. LaPerms are active, people-oriented cats that enjoy sitting on shoulders, following their owners and being involved in household activities. They get along well with children, dogs and other cats.

Ocicat
The Ocicat looks wild but is entirely domesticated — a magnificent spotted cat that resembles a small ocelot. Athletic, muscular and confident, the Ocicat is remarkably dog-like in personality: they play fetch, walk on a leash, come when called and enjoy meeting strangers. Despite their exotic appearance, they are gentle, sociable family cats.

Oriental Shorthair
The Oriental Shorthair is the extrovert of the cat world — a sleek, angular cat with enormous ears, almond-shaped eyes and a personality that fills every room. They are vocal, opinionated and deeply attached to their owners. Orientals do not like being alone and need companionship — whether from humans or other cats.

Singapura
The Singapura is the world's smallest cat breed — a tiny, ticked cat with enormous eyes and ears, full of personality. Despite their diminutive size, Singapuras are playful, active and people-obsessed. They love to perch on shoulders, peek around corners and supervise everything their owners do. They are called the "little lion of love" in Singapore.

Snowshoe
The Snowshoe is a striking cat that combines the pointed pattern of the Siamese with distinctive white boots and facial markings. They have bright blue eyes, a sturdy build and a moderately loud, soft voice (quieter than the Siamese). Snowshoes are affectionate, sociable and intelligent — they do not like being alone and form strong bonds with their families.
