The Burmilla cat was developed in England in the 1980s by the accidental mating of a lilac Burmese cat with a silver Chinchilla Persian cat. The breed is almost a complete division with a Burmese temperament and appearance and Chinchilla colouring. The breeding standard is now recognised for the Burmilla and the Shaded and Tipped Silver varieties have been accepted by the Cat Fanciers’ Assocation.
